PEI is Canada's smallest, most rural, and friendliest province.
Everyone who comes to visit PEI raves about the beaches, the people, the oysters and the lobster. There are other things the Island has to offer too, though. The golf courses are recognized internationally and are designed to challenge the experienced and the novice alike. Anne of Green Gables, the red-haired heroine of every little girls library, appeals to child and grown up alike as far off as Japan. Enjoy replicas of her fictional house; museums dedicated to her prolific author LM Montgomery, and a Broadway-style musical that honours Anne.
Pottery, quilting, and rug hooking have become somewhat of a cottage industry on PEI. You can easily find shops dedicated to talented artisans.
Visitors spend time driving through the striking countryside, looking for lighthouses and remote beaches. The PEI tourism department has provided directions for great driving tours that take in the best views and attractions in different parts of the island. Visit North Cape with its windmill farm, West Point lighthouse and Inn. At East Point, where the Northumberland Straight meets the Gulf of St. Lawrence, watch the seals frolic off the coast.
Every summer Islanders fill their weekends with festivals and celebrations for their local communities. It is great fun to catch the local festival of lights - a beautiful evening boat parade with fishing boats decked out in lights - parades, pageants and local fare. Depending on when you visit, you could enjoy the Irish Moss Festival, the Alberton Festival, the Potato Blossom Festival, the famous Malpeque/Tyne Valley Oyster Festival and Shucking Competition or the Summerside Lobster Festival. If music is your interest, then plan your trip around the Indian River Festival. There are few venues with the acoustics of the Indian River church, and the Festival offers a great variety of programming.
There is so much more to do and see. Simply consult the PEI Visitors Guide provided in your house or call us - we are always happy to help.
